[MPlayer-users] using -ao pcm

I have been using

mplayer -dvd 3 -vo null -ao pcm -hardframedrop

to try and extract the audio from a DVD. But whenever '-ao pcm' is
used, mplayer runs slower and slower making extraction completely
impractical. Have I just missed something obvious?

I have using the latest 0.50 release.
