[Mplayer-users] matrox xmga slower than x11?

All,

I have a P-II 400, 2.4.5, slackware 7.1, Xfree 4.1.0, gcc 2.95.3,
Matrox G400 Dual Head.

I had been using -vo x11, and compiled the mga driver, inmod, etc and mplayer
works with the -vo xmga option but I noticed using xmga I get frames dropped
and warnings that my system was too slow to play the divx.avi file where using 
x11 on the same file didnt drop any.  I though xmga was supposed
to be faster, what am I doing wrong here?
