Of course, I did. A good and useful tool. But again, why bundle everything
together? Of course, I realize that mplayer is your baby and I'm just an
outsider. Nevertheless, I think that things that can operate at an arm's
length should not be tied together.

Surprisingly many. :-)

;-) Actually, just for everyone on this list to know: what these guys have
done is both illegal and unethical by Russian laws and moral standards.
The fact that the legislation dealing with authors' rights in Russia is largely
incompatible with its western counterparts (the Russkie law is much
better, IMHO) and the often misinterpreted fact that there's no intellectual
property in Russia does not mean that plagiarism and thefth are tolerated
there.

For anyone with sufficient proficiency in Russian (or a good dictionary :-)
here's the full text of the current law: http://ypka.mailru.com/zakoni/avtorskoe_pravo.htm

According to articles 49 and 50 in Section 5, they can be forced to
immediately correct the misleading and false authorship notes and to issue
public apologies for the infringement of your rights as the true author.
If they refuse to comply, their material can be removed from the server.
Further, if the case ends up in a court, you can expect at least 9 minimal monthly wages
(that's about 10*$100=$1000 in Russia :-( ) as a compensation, even if no direct
material or financial loss occured as a result of the copyright infringement.
The violator actually pays 10 months, but 10% of the fine goes to the treasury.

So keep threatening and bashing them until they bend! You can sue their
pants off in Mother Russia, too!

Okay, thanks.
