AFAIK, mplayer doesn't use any objective C code. So, this package is

Did you also upgrade libgcc and libstdc? You should!
Also, at least on mandrake you need either v 3.0.2 from cooker and the
latest glibc and its includes or you have to disable dshow (but in that
case you wouldn't need a c++  compiler at all).

probably libgcc is missing or some other crucial stuff.
