Hi,

first of all let me express my admiration and thanks for providing the
best and fastest video player for Linux.

I maintain transcript-mode, a utility for controlling audio/video
replayers from within Emacs so that you can transcribe lyrics, movie
scripts etc. without having to switch apps. I used to use avifile's
replayer for .AVI playback, but mplayer is now much more stable and
efficient. When using it as a backend to transript-mode, I can only
send strings to its stdin. This works for pausing and resuming by
sending ' ' and 'p' but not for seek, because I can't send KEY_LEFT
over stdin.

Therefore I would like to have a real remote-control mode in mplayer
where it would read commands such as 'play' or 'seek 150' and give
easily parsable output such as '150/6450'. Are you planning such a
feature, or would you consider it if I hacked it in?

Keep up the good work,
