[Mplayer-users] better dvd support ?

I got dvd working, hell yeah !!, but it seems like it's only doing
software rendering, no hardware acceleration, ahhh! I have an ati rage
pro (8 meg) which ran dvd's fine back in windoze, but i have to make
the movie really small < 200 by 200 to get a decent picture. I have
hardware acceleration set up (using X 3.3.x with the UtahGLX), all my
games work fine, i've tried using :

mplayer -vo sdl or
mplayer -vo gl

and suggestions on how to get this working a little better, so i can
get more than 5 fps ??
