[Mplayer-users] Audio Sync Errors

Well, after some fighting with my kernel, I finally got XVideo to
work. I have done this particularly to get video working.

I have been trying to use mplayer because it seems like the best video
player out there. I have gotten almost everything working. I am only
having one problem left that I cannot fix.

Whenever I play an divx avi file (.mpg files seem to be fine), the
video plays great. I get audio coming through, but it seems like it
is playing at the wrong speed (sounds like 2x). I cannot seem to get
it to play at the right speed. One weird part about it is it seems
(at least as far as I can tell) to be sync'ed. I hear a high-pitched,
mostly unintelligible voice when someone's mouth is moving, and
sped-up music where there should be music.

My setup:
  Riva TNT card
  XFree86 4.0.2 w/ nvidia driver (from nvidia.com, supports xv)
  SB32 sounds card
Tried with the alsa sb16 and sbawe, and the oss sb16 drivers.
  Linux 2.4.2

I have tested other sounds, like playing .au files to /dev/audio,
playing .wav's, playing mp3's, etc. and they seem to work fine.

In mplayer, I have tried the -alsa and -noalsa parameters, as well as
the -bps and -nobps parameters. It seems to do the same with -vo x11
as -vo xv.

I am using the mplayer retrieved from CVS today (3/28/01), and I got
the w32codecs from the mplayer website.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or if this is a real bug (known or
unknown)? Is this the correct forum to ask this question?

At the end of this email is the output from an mplayer session.

Thanks ahead of time for any help you can provide,
  Rick Wash

Here is the output of a session trying to play a file that does this:
