You're right in general (i'll change error messages, thanks the note!)
but for this case there is something else.

libvo's Xv driver prints all video modes found, and try to find any
suitable. if can't find, then exits with error.

But in this case, nothing was listed, so there is simply no Xv ext
available.

between these lines should be the pixel format listing in this form:
Xvideo image format: 0xXXXX (FrCC) [packed|planar]
