as far as I know, borders are not transfered at all. That's why it's difficult 
to just put subtitles there. (Except for some stupid videos that really encoded 
the black bars on top and bottom).

But as A'rpi mentioned, we won't see changes in subtitle overlay/black bars 
soon, so let's not talk too much about it. He's busy with commercial work ;-p
