a few weeks ago i ripped a DVD onto my hdd..and for somereason, one of the vobs has a br0k3n track, once mplayer hit the br0k3n track in the vob...everything slowed down, the FPS of the movie was sooo slloooww.. sure that was a few weeks ago, so mplayer couldve changed.
