What video output driver are you using?  The man page says those options are
only intended for output drivers that can't detect the screen size
themselves.

Or, am i doing something wrong?

Right now i have it recompiled to detect the 2nd screen, so it is detecting
800x600, i set the -screenw and screenh to something smaller, but it still
displays at 800x600

I specifiy 400 x300
[dantheperson at danski main]$ mplayer -fs -screenw 400 -screenh 300 ~/test.mpg

It detects 800x600

And displays at 800x600
