[Mplayer-users] Should 'mplayer' be able to play this file?

Hello *,

although I get pretty annoyed by question like
"I have a really broken movie / a movie without
header / a movie with missing chunks / etc, why
doesn't 'mplayer' play it correctly?" I fear I have to
ask a sort of similar question:

I have downloaded a Divx movie that does not get
played correctly with any player I tried
(including Windoze "Mediaplayer")

The main problem is that audio and video go out of
sync very quickly. If you skip to any position, the
a/v sync is ok, but then for every 15 seconds of playing
the a/v de-sync increases for about 1 second, although the
status line is always like:

> A: 883.8 V: 883.8 A-V: 0.004 ct: 0.174 21249/21249 15% 3% 1.1% 0 0

When I start up mplayer, I get the following messages:

Has it something do to with this line?

> MainAVIHeader.dwFlags: (272) HAS_INDEX IS_INTERLEAVED

The question is: is this movie simply broken and should I simply
delete it or is this considered a bug in mplayer and should
I upload a sample of it to the ftp server with a detailed bug report?

CU
Michael.
