if you check teh changelog (in pre21), the porting patches (including yours)
will be in pre22. i didn't want to mix porting and new ync code in one change.

the later

but using system timer funcs instead of busy loopig (called softsleep in
linux timer.c) has the advantage that other apps can get the idle cpu.
