Yes and no. Mplayer cannot know what kind of aspect ratio an avi file
has as there's no information about it in the file itself. It doesn't
really know the aspect ratio of your TV set, too.

All in all you have to tell it via appropriate scale and expand
parameters. See also the "-aspect" option.

The problem is that in order to play a non-mpeg-stream via a DVB card it
has to be re-encoded into MPEG in *real-time*. This means:
- decode the divx video
- scale the video data
- encode into MPEG

Alltogether it's a really tough job for a P3 1GHz CPU - better try it
with a VCD-resolution of 352x288.
Maybe "-vop lavc=5000" is suffician for you.
