well the dvd section and the dvb section say
"mplayer -vo mpegpes -ao mpegpes dvd://" which works for all
tv's in the house here (4x dvbs fullfeatured cards).
and a quick links ../mplayer-src/DOCS/video.html ->search dxr3
gave me the "-vo dxr3" and the "-ao oss:/dev/em8300_ma-0"
switches, but im too lazy too tell what to do with them.

for what purpose it makes sense to set the maximum delay correction per 
second to 10.10 frames ?

well at least for me (and probably the rest of this list) he is the most 
intelligent guy on this planet when it comes to mplayer, and it's you 
bothering him, you are complaining that he isn't doing his hobby like you 
want him to do it, because this way his hobby is not enhancing your 
pleasure, but forcing you to read and understand...(yes i know it takes 
around 2-3 weeks of spare time to real all mplayer options one might need)
