[Mplayer-dvb] mpegpes decoding and X-output?

Hi,
I'm new to this mailing group. I've always wanted to get rid of GATESware from my system and finally I feel that I've got a chance: With MPlayer being a VERY sophisticated and nice peace of work from all you guys!

Probably this is even a very silly question:

Can I use my dvb hardware-decoder (mpegpes) AND watch the output on my CRT-Projector as X-overlay?

Watching ripped DVD-files with
# mplayer -ao alsa9 -ac hwac3 -vo xv <files>
basically works, but mplayer always reports that my system is to slow and indeed, sysload is ~100% :-((

Using -framedrop gets rid of these messages, but yields unsmooth output at still close to 95% sysload, playing around with -autosync and -cache values havs no effect (except that sound sometimes becomes out-of-sync...).

(Strange enough under GATES98SE I can watch these vob's with PowerDVD without problems @ sysload < 75%)

I've got a PIII @ 500Mhz, ATA133-HD's (dma is active), original Siemens DVB-s (Rev. 1.3), SB-Live! incl. digital I/O interface and unfortunately an Nvidia GeForce DDR with 32MB (ASUS-V6800Deluxe). Nvidia's newest drivers - 4191 - seem to be ok though. After lots of RTFM's and recompiling (Suse 8.1) to fix the HEAD-driver problems I can now - finally :-))) - also successfully run

# mplayer -ao mpegpes -vo mpegpes <files>

and get the output on my video-out port of the dvb-card. Sysload is now <30% so hw-decode seems to work. I can also watch the output via xawtv but it's of very poor quality (interlaced and small). I can't use motv (to try filtering for deinterlace) if i run mpegpes.

Any ideas/instructions how to use hw-decoding AND getting X output from mplayer at the same time - @ full screen resolution (e.g. 1042x768 at 100hz)?

Thanx in advance,

Kai
