The today's lastest CVS for DVB :
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at linuxtv.org:/cvs/linuxtv checkout DVB
cd DVB/
cvs update -dPA
make all
cd drivers/
./makedev.napi
make insmod
Here, the drivers load successfully.

lsmod
dvb-core 46692 3 [dvb-ttpci ves1820 grundig_29504-491
grundig_29504-401 alps_tdlb7 alps_tdmb7 alps_bsrv2 alps_bsru6]
videodev 6624 1 [dvb-ttpci]

Then I get today's latest mplayer CVS :
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous at mplayerhq.hu:/cvsroot/mplayer checkout main
mv main MPlayer
cd MPlayer
cvs update -dPA
./configure --with-win32libdir=/usr/local/src/w32codec-0.90
--with-extraincdir=/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-3/drivers/media/video/margi/
make
make install

While I configure, I get :
Checking for DVB ... yes
Checking for DVB HEAD ... no (specify path to DVB/include (HEAD Version)
with --with-extraincdir=DIR)

and when I put :
./configure --with-win32libdir=/usr/local/src/w32codec-0.90
--with-extraincdir=/usr/local/src/DVB/include
I get :

Checking for DVB ... no (specify path to DVB/ost/include with
--with-extraincdir=DIR)
Checking for DVB HEAD ... yes

How can I get both ?

Then I just try :
mplayer -vo mpegpes -ao mpegpes /usr/local/src/911-getaway.mpg

And I get the error message I gave you in the original post. I'm not
using VDR.

>I guess you don't have loaded the driver at all,
>or the second cance is, that you have vdr sittin on the DVB device ....
>please provide some information about the driver u are using.

I hope this is enought. You could just copy / past my commande lines. It
should work. Trying to reproduce the error.
