[Mplayer-dvb] mencoder and viewing

Hi,
maybe this is the wrong list, but I was wondering if it is possible to
view the ouput of a video4linux device and encode it with mencoder at
the same time. I guess it would be a problem if you need color
conversion for the display, but if you grab a yuv format that  can be
used for divx encoding and at the same time use it for output via xv,
that should be no great problem.
Any thoughts on this?
