ok, i've put together a very simple vop plugin for this, get CVS and try:

-vop lavc,expand=-1:576:-1:-1:1,scale=-1:0,dvbscale

'dvbscale' will do the above calculation to d_height, so
scale=-1:0 will use the original width (-1) and d_height (0)
