[Mplayer-dvb] problem with mp3 playback

hi everyone,

I have a problem with mplayer playing back an mp3 file on my DVB cards audio output.

If I type for example something like:  "mplayer -ao mpegpes test.mp3" i get :

after writing "Start playing..." mplayer hangs?/does nothing !

If I try another audio output device like: "null" 
for example: "mplayer -ao null test.mp3" I get:

A:   1.2 17.9% 0% <----audio output works to devive null

is there something I do wrong, or doesnt mplayer support mp3 transcoding to an mpeg PS?
I have no problem playing a DVD or even DivX with mplayer on the DVB device, which means I also have audio!
Even with VDR's patch to play MP3's on the DVB card it works just fine!(but only after I installed libsnd and recompiling VDR)
Does MPLAYER also use libsnd?
