[Mplayer-dvb] 1.6GHz Athlon XP fast enough?

Hi list!

Is a 1.6GHz Athlon XP fast enough for on-the-fly divx decoding and mpeg1 
encoding for direct dvb-out?  During first tests on large sized movies the 
quality was suprisingly bad. No smooth video-stream but jumpy parts.
Is dvb-out a valid option for divx in a near future or should I better go back 
to standard tv-out or do I need a better processor?
