[Mplayer-dvb] DVB vertical resolutions

It still does not work as expected. This is in detail what I do:
1) Encoding (see output below) with:
mencoder 001.vdr -ovc divx4 -oac mp3lame -y 288 -o 001.avi
2) Playing (see output below) with:
mplayer -ao mpegpes -vo mpegpes -y 288 001.avi
and what I see is a picture as wide as the TV screen but only half
as high and with a thick black band on top and at the bottom,
i.e. 720x288
What am I doing wrong?
