hmm? it does do the decoding of mpeg2 too, now

i don't think so
nor dvb or matrox can encode video

matrox marvel has an optional expansion module to encode mjpeg...
see marvel.sf.net for that

and some ATI AiW cards can do mpeg 1/2 encoding by hw, but they
are expensive and low quality (they encode from analog in)
