[Mplayer-dvb] tv input doesn't work.

when i'am trying to play v4l with mplayer
though my DVB card I get the following.

ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
ioctl mcapture failed: Invalid argument
etc etc.

I used the following syntax:
mplayer -tv on:driver=v4l:width=640:height=480:outfmt=i420 -vc rawi420 -vo xv
just like the docs tell me to do.

I'am running linux ( Redhat 7.2 with 2.95.3 compiler )
the kernel version is 2.4.18.
anybody any hints on how to solve this?
