Are you sure about the date ?

I reported the same (though NO proper bug report) on 06.04.2002 - see thread 
"DVBs support broken in mplayer cvs ???"
The last one that i tested, which was working is from 23.03.2002 !

So afaik it happened between 23.03.02 and 06.04.2002 !

Anyone any other version ?
