[Mplayer-dvb] Divx to PES conversion offline?

Hi,

after finally having a running mplayer I found out, what I already anticipated: my cpu is just a little too slow. Great picture, understandable sound, but disturbing interruptions in sound every other second.

Is there any way to do the conversion on disk before playing the file? As far as I understood mencoder only converts into Divx, has this changed recently? Are there other options?
