Is there any reason why this sentence was removed? I don't have any
inherent objections to doing so, but I don't like to see things removed
without discussion, and I don't recall any mention of removing this
segment prior to the commit. It certainly doesn't appear, at a glance,
to be relevant to the rest of the change committed...
