I'm not in a position to comment on the technical aspects (seeing as how
I'd have to bug a few other people in order to even get access to a
system running OSX), but on the more superficial level:

I'm not certain that "CVS" shouldn't be capitalized here, since AFAICT
it refers not to the command name but to the CVS repository (i.e., it's
an abbreviation for the noun phrase "the CVS repository"). I wouldn't
kick up too much of a fuss if it were left as is, though.

I don't see a sentence break (or a new bullet point, or anything
similar) between "main_noaltivec" and "go to the" et cetera. I'd
probably break with a period and use "Then go to the".

If I'm understanding this correctly ("versions of xcode older than 2.1
do not work for this purpose"), then I would say "older versions" or
"the older version" - or even "the old version" or "the previous
version" if there was only one - rather than "the old one".
Other than that, it looks good to me, at least grammatically.
