hi,

i hope this is the right place to tell this:

there are at least 4 options in man-mplayer:

-utf8
-unicode
-subcp
-subfont-encoding

1. -subcp says, that it works only if you have iconv installed, and
-subfont-encoding says it's used when you use freetype..... i have both
(and imho most of the users have both)..which one should be used?

2. what's the difference between: -utf8, -subcp UTF-8, -subfont-encoding
UTF-8

3. the best:)) -unicode...what does that do? from the manpage:
"
-unicode
Tells MPlayer to handle the subtitle file as UNICODE.
"
what's an unicode textfile? there's no encoding called unicode..(imho
unicode is a company or standard or organization, but definitely not an
encoding :-)...does it mean utf16? if yes, what's the diff between
-unicode, -subcp UTF-16, -subfont-encoding UTF-16? (and if yes, then it
should be renamed to -utf16)
