Thanks for doing the translation, the Romanian translation has been in
need of a maintainer for quite some time. It's very much
appreciated. Still, it can be improved. Some comments below.

This is unnecessary. The English master file has it so that the
translations can easily reference a particular version. Leave that
out.

You should not copy these lines from the master file, just follow the
instructions. Look at some of the other translations (e.g. Spanish,
French) to see how it should be done.

Please do not leave English messages in place, leave them out instead.
MPlayer will default to the latest English version of the message.
Otherwise users will not see the latest message if it is changed.

There are no Romanian versions, leave them as they are.

I think these comments should not be necessary. You are the master of
your translation, use the words you deem fit. If you do not translate
the message, leave it out, as said above.
I'll try to clear up some of the confusion below...

The MPlayer developers, not the author of the clip.

see above

Movies get panscanned, i.e. cropped, so that they fit a TV screen.
They usually have a 16:9 aspect ratio whereas TV has 4:3. Just google
for it.
> #define MSGTR_PREFERENCES_SUB_Overlap "Alege suprapunerea subtitrarilor" // dunno - what's this?
See the -overlapsub option in the man page.

I'd say translate them nevertheless.

A small gui that appears in fullscreen mode if the skin supports it.
Dunno which skin supports it off the top of my head...

dunno ;-)
Can somebody else explain these?
Another nit: Please do not add trailing whitespace to your
translation.
Thanks for your effort
