Hi,
I looked over the ffmpeg that's imbeded in the mplayer directory and compared it with a separate "git clone" from the ffmpeg site. The ffmpeg directory in mplayer was mangled (some patches(?) missing, etc) I copied the recently cloned ffmpeg directory into the mplayer directory and rebuilt mplayer. It built successfully AND appears to be functional.
It remains to be seen just why this original ffmpeg directory got mangled.
Otherwise, problem solved.
Thanks for responding and your help... STAY SAFE!
George...
Hi,
I would almost bet money that I'm doing something wrong but I can't seem to see it. I have been build mplayer for several years but lately mplayer doesn't want to build.
Could I get someone look over the enclosed build log please?
Best regards,
George...

The log contains no compiler messages related to vo_png, so I think either
something went a bit weird with capturing the log or the compiler
crashed.
Either case, afraid it's not enough info to help.
Maybe you can check if something changes/you can get more
useful errors by first running "make -k" and after that
running "make" again and see if it gives more useful hints.
At least it would be a much shorter and thus easier to check log.
