  In princinple I agree with you. But as the reporter had a 4.2 version
and it seems this is still widely spread my initial objective was to make
it work with that version. While investigating I found out about version
5 and tried to make it work with that as well.

  If more problems arise now or in future I will propose dropping
backward compatibility.
