[MPlayer-dev-eng] mplayer blocking timer callback functions

Hi,

I am running mplayer in my scheduling framework in Linux and I have noticed that 
it affects the callback of my timers (I use the high resolution timers in Linux 
for scheduling). 
It basically blocks the callback functions sometimes up to 5 milliseconds.

I would like to know what is the source of this effect? Is mplayer disabling 
interrupts at any stage of its execution?

Is there anyway to avoid this?
