when we had ftp access to mplayer/ffmpeg incoming, i used to
test files with mplayer over ftp. it was easier than downloading the
file first, and you'd run into different bugs :)

sometimes its just easier to share files over ftp, or http port is
blocked and you dont want to mess with a different port.
