does -mc 0 help any? there is also -vf fixpts
mplayer g2 had perfect mpeg sync code iirc.
g2's goal was to get rid of some hacks and rewrite some of the mplayer
engine. but no one wanted to relicense mplayer code to lgpl, and no one
felt like working on the new code, so it died. then a lot of devs left
mplayer and now its just hanging on by a string.
probably none of this helps, just thought i'd bring out the old history.
