Could you try to narrow it down to the mp3lib file that lead to this problem?
Here's how you can do it:
1- Compile mplayer with gcc-4.5,
2- then recompile one of the file of mplayer/mp3lib/ with gcc-4.6, and
re-launch mplayer's link
3- re-test if mp3 decoding is affected
4a- if decoding is unaffected, then move to the next mp3lib file
4b- if decoding is affected, then it's be interesting to see how the
assembly differs.
