It's a feature usually called something like "quit after playing" in other
GUIs. I just reused an option already existing.

It's useful when starting files from your file manager. You'd like the player
to vanish afterwards rather than lying around. On the other hand, the former
-idle behaviour is default and quite useful when utilizing the GUI's file
selection.
