Huh? The the ugliness of the Gui code is not in question, however
"just don't look at it" works just as well as "remove it" for that.
The Gui-interfacing code is the real issue, and the mp_msg one is
the only one I found particularly objectionable.
(There's also the VCD stuff I never got around to finish)
If anyone has others in mind, tell me!
