Not sure about shared-memory (what is it useful for ?), but I've been 
using your patches for the last few months, and ac3 pass-through is 
working great. I think DTS too, but as it's less common, I'm not 
completely sure (I'll check again).

As far as i'm concerned, the only remaining issues are:

* I often have to use -format ac3le to make ac3 pass-through work
* I have a delay of 5s while initializing coreaudio. I posted an hack to 
  skip it, but recently I've read it's because some event-loop is now 
disabled in snow leopard and current code assumes it's running.

Anyway, if you need testing, just ask !
I can only test on x86 10.6.3 though.
