Gah, I just implemented this in my tree.  I should have checked the ML
first.

My man page update is more thorough, but I'll adapt some of Micha's
changes (namely the simplification of turbo) into my tree and commit.

I volunteer to maintain this as I use mencoder and x264 quite a bit.
