Well, maybe we can start out reducing the size of the patch so you have to
maintain less?
For example extracting the vobsub code into a separate function is something
I consider welcome (if done without using global variables if at all possible),
and I don't mind moving it to mp_common.c either.
There might be other changes you can easily convince use without even mentioning
mencoder :-)
I admit it will be slow progress and a bit of extra effort, but hopefully less
than
