You're misquoting my mail. If you think the whole context isn't
necessary then quote less; but if you're criticizing a mail then don't
modify the quoted part in a way that makes the contents of the original
message look different from what they really were.

That doesn't make it harmless. Having people post patches for a few
random cosmetics is not beneficial.

I was making the point in my mail quite seriously. (I at least interpret
"rude remark" to mean you are not only complaining about the tone of my
post, but are also implying it was a random insult with no serious
content.)

I think it was a point worth making. Replying to your mail is more in
the "questionable use of time" territory.
