1) 190.42 fixes many bugs
2) MPlayer policy is "latest library version"
3) 1080 at 60 is simply not supported by VDPAU
4) I am not fully convinced your tests really show a slow-down.
5) you can still patch away the change without big effort

I will apply if no further objections are raised.
