then you must trick the user into using smplayer
package it together, call it 'gmplayer'. give it a gmplayer skin and
icon. 

this trick is used often when dealing with windows users and internet
explorer/mozilla. just skin mozilla, rename, change icon and bingo! the
big e icon now goes to a secure web browser...
