I'd definitely love to see a tighter integration of GUIs into mplayer.

Maybe that integration is better off not only benefiting a single GUI like
smplayer. Of course there could be an official GUI with tighter
collaboration of the devs.

I certainly would like to implement something like this in MPlayer OSX
(Extended).
