No, AppKit version numbers are totally unrelated to system version numbers.
Each major version usually has it's corresponding integer (Leopard was 949,
Tiger 824, etc) but I guess that's not guaranteed. And the decimal part is
totally unrelated to the system minor updates (10.5.3 was 949.33, 10.5.2 was
949.27 etc).
I checked on my two computers and 10.6.1 is 1038.11 and 10.6.2 is 1038.25.
Unfortunately, I can't test on my 10.6.1. machine if it still uses the old
cookies because it has no IR receiver. But that suggests that VLC uses an
AppKit version number of a 10.6.2 prerelease and that checking < 1038(.00)
would break apple remote support on 10.6.0/.1.
Would be great if someone could confirm that!
