I think the result of the thread in ffmpeg-devel is that it's preferred
to standardize all codecs on the same order, but whether or not that
happens depends on the time and motivation of the respective codec
maintainers.

At least for the AAC encoder, the maintainer has said it's not a
priority to do this work.  It does seem that the channel order for AAC
encoding/decoding and Vorbis decoding is not in any danger of changing
imminently.

But if it does, it will be fairly easy to adapt.  I'd hope that the
indecision of channel layouts for these codecs in ffmpeg doesn't block
this patch.
