I looked at the vsync option and I think it turns on vsync alignment in
some vo modules. What do you mean by suboption? I am not sure that could
be added unless we redesign the vsync option (which could be good place
to collect vsync related options under. I did not use it as it was
already defined).

mplayer.c is not that easy to understand. I do not think so.
