The original poster also asked about this on our "live-devel" 
(live555) mailing list.  The answer was that his server was 
erroneously sending out 16-bit PCM audio samples in little-endian 
order.  This is incorrect: In IETF standard protocols, multi-byte 
values are always sent in big-endian order.  Fixing his server should 
solve his problem.
