Dear all,
This patch was originally from Ivor Hewitt, and adds XvMC VLD support to
MPlayer. This significantly speeds up the playback of MPEG-2 video on
S3 Unichrome. On a 1GHz VIA C3, the CPU load drops from 85% to 15%
during playback.
Since the majority of the patch was written by Ivor, I've sent it to him
for review in July, but have not received any feedback since then.
The only change that have been added is the ability to disable VLD
acceleration during run-time if not supported by the display driver.
I've tested a patched MPlayer against Intel, NVidia and Unichrome
display drivers, and had consistently achieved the highest level of XvMC
acceleration.
I've been posting updates of this patch to the Unichrome mailing list
during last 5 months, and their subscribers had not encountered any
problem with their patched MPlayers.
It would be great to get XvMC VLD support on the trunk. Looking
forward to your comments!
Regards,
Timothy Lee
